Restoration Ranch Texas: A Place of Hope and Healing
The Birth of a Ministry
Dr. Wakefield's journey into full-time ministry began in 2012 when she transitioned from the corporate world to working at her home church in Austin. Through this role, she encountered individuals in deep distress, including a woman who was suicidal. Realizing she lacked the resources and knowledge to truly help, she sought guidance through prayer, leading her to seminary.
Over the next several years, God shaped a vision in her heart: a place where women facing addiction, incarceration, or trafficking could find restoration. By 2016, with the help of a skilled writer, the vision was solidified on paper. By 2018, Restoration Ranch Texas had a board, fundraising efforts, and the necessary infrastructure. Despite challenges, including the impact of COVID-19, the ministry persevered, officially launching its residential program in December 2023.
A Home for Transformation
Located outside Austin on an educational farm, Restoration Ranch, Texas is a sanctuary for women aged 18 to 65. The ministry refers to its residents as "students," reinforcing a focus on discipleship and continuous learning. Since opening, they have welcomed 11 students, with their first successful graduation in January 2024.
The program has three phases: Foundations, Elevation, and Destination. Students begin by stabilizing and healing, then move into learning essential life skills, and ultimately, transition into independent living. They also participate in meal planning, gardening, and animal care, promoting sustainability and responsibility. Recently, a generous donor provided funding for a new Women’s Discipleship House in Florence, set to open by the end of 2024, increasing capacity and further strengthening their mission.
Building a Community of Support
Restoration Ranch, Texas, extends beyond its students, actively engaging with the community. Whether preparing meals for local families, supporting foster caregivers, or planning future entrepreneurial projects like a cottage bakery, the ministry fosters a spirit of giving.
Dr. Wakefield emphasizes the importance of peace and unity within the home, with students voting on admissions and addressing conflicts collectively. She also underscores the need for biblically rooted counseling, resisting secular psychological approaches in favor of scripture-based healing.
How You Can Get Involved
The ministry relies entirely on private funding and community support. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including:
- Transportation for students to medical appointments
- Helping with food bank pickups
- Assisting with fundraising events
- Hands-on labor for their expanding facilities

Additionally, their annual *Student Scholarship Tea* in April raises funds to support students who cannot afford the program. With 70% of students unable to pay, these scholarships ensure that those in need are not turned away.
